Asus has entered the 16'' screen gaming laptop segment with its new Zephyrus M16 gaming laptop and we don't think it's coming back. Once users get used to this large gaming laptop screen, they won't be satisfied with these bulky bezels in the future. These types of screens were more common in business and productivity machines because of the extra vertical space they provide. Overview

The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 2021 comes as an interesting laptop that is the successor to the popular M15 model. Due to the amazing 16'' screen that fits into the laptop, it looks like it's full screen when you open the laptop lid and look huge. According to the company, it is considered to be the first gaming laptop with super thin bezels that are maintained for a super futuristic and immersive experience. However, it is smaller and lighter than the M15 model. The M16 also comes with a lift-yo design that helps improve airflow.

Design

In terms of design, the lid of the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 2021 is kept clean with muted branding and a reflective prismatic layer that emits light in this interesting way. The laptop also has a spacious interior with ample armrests, a large centered glass clickpad and speaker grills on the sides. For the most part, it's built on the same chassis we saw in the 2021 Zephyrus G15, but this time it's exclusive and only available in black.

There is a panel of excellent quality and a camera at the top of the screen with a decent quality of 2 megapixels for laptop standards. The I/O location is also identical to the G15. Most of the ports are squeezed out on the left side, all the way to the front. Meanwhile, a microSD card reader and USB A port are mounted on the right side, and there are air vents on both sides of the notebook.

Display

The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 2021 is one of the few portable performance laptops available with a 16-inch WQHD display. The display comes with narrow bezels, especially at the bottom of the screen. It also has a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a response time of 3 ms. Meanwhile, the laptop comes with a chiclet keyboard with RGB backlight system. Similarly, the screen can bend up to 180 degrees. The resolution of the laptop is 2560 x 1600 pixels.

Performance

The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 2021 is powered by a new 11th-gen Intel Core i9-11900H processor, which the company claims can run at 45W continuous power when the GPU is active and at 80W alone. As part of ROG Intelligent Cooling technologies, the company continues to use liquid metal as the thermal interface material. Two 84-blade Arc Flow fans help dissipate heat coming from six heat pipes from the CPU and GPU.

Asus offers NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB), RTX 3060 (6GB) and RTX 3050 Ti (4GB) as GPU options in the ROG Zephyrus M16. Additionally, the notebook comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, expandable up to 48GB via available DIMM slots, and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.
